My name is Shannon McPhee and I am proud to be
your Miss Redding Rodeo 2005. I am 17 years old and I recently graduated early
from West Valley High School in Cottonwood. I live in the small town of Cottonwood
with my parents Doug and Yvonne McPhee.
I have always had a love for horses, rodeo and the lifestyle that comes with
it. I have competed in gymkhana, local barrel races, and junior rodeos where
I have made many friends and more second family’s than I can keep track
of!
In high school I was very active in FFA where I was able to travel around
the state to compete in contests such as Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Livestock
Judging, Dairy Judging and my favorite, Agricultural Sales. I plan on going
to college in the fall to study Sports Therapy. My dream is to become part
of the Justin Sports Medicine team so I can continue to be involved in rodeo,
whether I am running barrels or fixing the cowboys.
I am very excited about this year’s rodeo and the plans our association
has for this next year. My goal as your queen is to be as involved as possible
by attending various functions such as other rodeos and the Make-A-Wish telethon
to help promote and educate people about rodeo. I hope to encourage the youth
to become involved and stay involved in our great sport of rodeo.
I want to say thank you to all of the people who support the rodeo and our
traditions. To our sponsors, we would not be able to be where we are without
your support. Thank you to my family and friends for always being there! I
want to say thank you to my parents who have always pushed me to do my best
and achieve my goals.
I hope you enjoy one of the top rodeos in the state, here in beautiful Redding.
Thanks you so much!
