My name is Melissa Chatham and I am proud to be your 2006 Miss Redding Rodeo. I am 21 years old and a graduate of Foothill High School and Shasta College. I live on a ranch in Bella Vista with my parents Ray and Sylvie Chatham and younger brother Talon, also living on the ranch are both my grandmothers, my aunt and uncle. Ranch life has created a strong family foundation for me, the ranch has been in my family for three generations now and will continue for many more.

I have always had a love for horses, rodeo and the life style that comes with it. I attended my first Redding Rodeo at the age of 5 months and have sat in the same seats all my 21 years. You might say the Redding Rodeo Association has watched me grow up.

I participated in my first rodeo when I was 2 years old, and at the age of 9 I had won my first all-around, and finally at 17 I won my first saddle. I competed in High School Rodeo at the state level in the breakaway roping, and was the District 1 Queen. I am still very involved in the high school rodeo association as an announcer and a judge.

I really enjoy watching the competitors that I have helped through the years.

My biggest goal in life is to compete at the NFR in Las Vegas in the Barrel Racing.
I am very excited about this year’s rodeo and all the plans that our association has for this next year. My goal as your queen is to be as involved as possible by attending various functions and other rodeos. I want to help in promoting and educating people about the wonderful sport of rodeo.

I would like to finish by saying thank you to all of the people that support the rodeo and our traditions. To our sponsors, we would not be able to be where we are without your support. Thank you to my family and friends for always being there! I want to say thank you to my parents who have always pushed me to do my best and achieve my goals.

I hope you enjoy one of the top rodeos in the state, right here in beautiful Redding California.

Sincerely

Melissa Chatham Miss Redding Rodeo 2006
