RJRA Drill Team 

The Redding Junior Rodeo Association has members between the ages of 8 and 18. The Juniors help out at the many events put on by the Redding Rodeo Association every year. And they have their own Drill Team! The Drill Team has 12 members that practice 2 nights a week starting in January until June. On June 19th the Juniors will be competing at the Western States Drill Team Competition in Reno. They have been working very hard practicing and securing sponsors to help pay for their new chaps and travel expenses. Wish them luck!

Howdy Y'all! 
Hey everybody!

My name is Kelsey Severson and I am currently the 2009 Captain of the Redding Junior Rodeo Association. I am a 16 year old junior at Foothill High School. I have been a member of the Juniors and have ridden on the mounted drill team for 4 years. I also compete in local gymkhanas and barrel races. So as you can tell, I tend to spend a lot of time on the back of a horse.

The RJRA is open to ages 6-18. We encourage horsemanship, leadership and of course having a good time! Even if you don't own a horse there are many events that you can be involved in; we have get-togethers such as holiday parties and dinner meetings. This year we are working on getting some camping trips and "picnic" type trips on the calendar. We also have Fundraisers/socials in which we serve. When Redding Rodeo rolls around, we get very busy with booths and concession stands, selling anything from Pepsi products to popcorn.

If you do own a horse, you are welcomed to join our mounted drill team. We ride all three nights during Redding Rodeo, and one afternoon during Cottonwood Rodeo. The team and anyone interested, also ride in the Red Bluff, Cottonwood and Redding Rodeo Parades. This year, the team is eager to compete in Reno Rodeo in June. We also compete as a colorgaurd team at the Grand National Finals rodeo in San Francisco at the Cow Palace.

The Junior members range from the ages of eight to seventeen.  We enjoy riding, working, and traveling together as we continue to form lasting friendships.
