Christmas Bicycle Giveaway

Each year we give away over 100 new or refurbished bicycles to less fortunate children and teens. Club members donate the parts and labor necessary to assemble or repair and checkout each bike.

In April 2010, Redding Rodeo Association, in conjunction with Youth for Christ (Shasta Chapter), was awarded a grant for 60 bicycle safety helmets. The grant from the Kids' Plates Program will provide safety helmets that will be given along with the bicycles.

Funding for the Kids' Plate Program is generated solely from the sale of California DMV License plates. Kids' Plates are the only DMV license plates that contain a heart, hand, star, or plus sign. Revenue from the sale of Kids' Plates is deposited into the Child Health and Safety Fund and is appropriated to support three significant child safety issues. 25% of the funds support unintentional childhood injury prevention, 25% supports the prevention of child abuse and 50% supports child care licensing and inspection activities.

Redding Rodeo and Youth for Christ are pleased and honored to be selected to receive this grant award for 2010. It will benefit the youth of Shasta County.

Think Pink night at the Rodeo

Each year, the RRA sponsors a Think Pink night at the annual rodeo. Held in conjunction with the Wrangler Tough Enough to Wear Pink program and with community support, over $10,000 dollars has been raised and given to the Brest Cancer Society in Redding.

Western Heritage Days

This is a new program (started in 2007) where local elementary schools being students to the Rodeo Grounds on Friday of Rodeo Week for a day of "Western" education. They watch rodeo event performances, talk with the cowboys and cowgirls, learn about caring for the horses and other animals and much more, including a hot lunch. A real "behind the scenes visit". In 2008, over 2000 students attended and walked away with a better understanding of how and why many of the rodeo events got started and how these activities are still used on ranches world side.

Special Kids Day

This program expressly for our "Special Kid - Mentally and Physically Challenged" friends has been going on for over 50 years. With help from the Asphalt Cowboys and our other affiliated clubs we offer a special day of horseback & wagon rides and rodeo clown performances just for these wonderful kids. Done without competition from other school kids, this really gives these youngsters a chance to shine. Both the kids and Association members look forward to it every year. This special program is held the Monday of Rodeo Week.

RRA Scholarship

Every year the Redding Rodeo Association offers a graduating High School senior a $1000 scholarship to help with college costs. This program has been going on for over 8 years. More information can be found on the Scholarship page.
