Howdy
Y'all! Hi everybody!
My name is Debbie Hamilton and I’m the 2005 Captain for the Redding
Junior Rodeo Association. I am a 15 year old freshman at Foothill High
School and I’ve been a member of the RJRA and its drill team for
6 years. I am also competing in High School rodeo, so I get to spend a
lot of time on the back of a horse.
The Redding Junior Rodeo Association (RJRA) is open to anyone from 8
to 17 years old. Our club encourages horsemanship, leadership, and above
all, having fun. Even if you don’t own a horse, there are many activities
that you could be involved in. We hold get-togethers once a month where
we do things like miniature golfing, bowling, and movies and pizza in
our clubhouse. We run concession stands at the Redding Rodeo in May where
we sell popcorn and cotton candy that we’ve made ourselves. We help
at many of the Redding Rodeo Association activities like the Reba and
Brooks & Dunn concerts and bull riding, high school and college rodeos.
If you do own a horse, you can join our mounted drill team. We practice
twice a week from February to May, and perform all three nights of the
Redding Rodeo. This summer, we will perform at the Siskiyou Fair in Yreka.
We also participate in parades and rodeos in Red Bluff, Cottonwood, Shasta
Lake. Throughout the year, the Redding Rodeo Association and affiliate
clubs plan trail rides and camping trips that are fun for the whole family.
If you are considering becoming a member of a great group of kids, I
would like to invite you to visit a club meeting, held on the second Tuesday
of the month at 7:00pm at the Redding Rodeo grounds.
