Special Kids Day

This program expressly for our “Special Kids – Mentally and Physically Challenged” friends has been going on for over 50 years. With help from the Asphalt Cowboys and our other affiliated clubs we offer a special day of horseback & wagon rides and rodeo clown performances just for these wonderful kids. Done without competition from other school kids, this really gives these youngsters a chance to shine.

The effect of a horse’s rhythmic walk offers benefits that are not obtainable through
traditional therapies. As the motion of the horse transfers to the rider, spastic muscles
relax, muscles not ordinarily used are awakened, and the rider experiences a new kind of
freedom of motion. For someone who cannot walk, see, communicate, or accomplish
basic tasks without extreme difficulty, therapeutic riding is a powerful and liberating
experience.

**All riders are supervised; however, helmets are NOT provided**
